Dr. Golden, Medical Director


Dr. Golden began volunteering at a veterinary hospital while in high school and hasn't looked back. She joined Forest Glen Animal Hospital in September 2013. A member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association, Dr. Golden's professional interests include emergency medicine, surgery and internal medicine.
"I thoroughly enjoy discussing different diseases and preventable care measures so our clients always understand why we are doing certain things with their pets," she says. "Additionally, I enjoy the science of veterinary medicine and how different medical options can help each individual."
Dr. Golden earned her Bachelor's Degree in Spanish and Biology from Augustana College, where she was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine with honors from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. While there, she was a member of Phi Zeta, the veterinary honor society.
At home Dr. Golden is mom to a loveable yellow Labrador Retriever mix named Moose. She enjoys spending time outside work playing volleyball, running and playing outdoors with Moose.

Dr. Behnke, DVM

Dr. Claire Behnke decided to become a veterinarian after reading the exciting tales of the British veterinary surgeon Dr. James Herriot in high school. Not only was James Herriot a doctor, he was a surgeon, a teacher and a friend. Dr. Behnke loves the daily variety that general veterinary practice brings ranging from managing chronic endocrinpathies to treating skin abscesses. Dr. Behnke's primary interests in veterinary medicine include infectious disease, preventative medicine, dentistry and surgery.
Dr. Behnke grew up in the Chicagoland area. She graduated from Augustana College with a double major in Biology and Spanish. Dr. Behnke graduated with honors and was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Dr. Behnke earned her doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Illinois. After graduation, Dr. Behnke worked at a practice in the Chicago Suburbs before beginning here at Forest Glen Animal Hospital.
Dr. Behnke is a member of the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association, the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Outside of the office, Dr. Behnke enjoys riding her bike around the city, finding new places to go hiking, or hanging out at home with her cat Lexi.

Dr. Ferguson, DVM

Dr. Ferguson’s path to pursue a career in veterinary medicine was solidified in high school when she rescued Lexi, a gorgeous and kindhearted Australian Shepherd mix. This adoption enabled her to build a strong relationship with their family veterinarian and witness firsthand how rewarding a career as a veterinarian can be.
Dr. Ferguson believes that an important role of a veterinarian is to nurture the human-animal bond throughout the entire lifetime of your pet. She loves the brand-new puppy and kitten appointments just as much as she enjoys the continued follow-up care of your pet as they grow with your family.
Dr. Ferguson grew up in North Carolina where she went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She further earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at North Carolina State University. She has received additional training through completion of Fear Free certification and has been recognized for excellence in small animal surgery. Her professional interests include internal medicine, anesthesia and pain management, and soft tissue and orthopedic surgery.
Dr. Ferguson strives to be an active member in the veterinary community with memberships in the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association. In her free time, she loves to volunteer with community organizations, cheer on her favorite sports teams, and recently has enjoyed exploring the beautiful city of Chicago!


Dr. Houle, DVM

Dr. Houle has been a lover of animals and science since she was young, so being a veterinarian is the best career she can imagine! She enjoys getting to know her patients and their families, and tailoring therapy to promote the health of each pet. Dr. Houle’s professional interests include internal medicine, preventative care, pain management, and shelter medicine.
Originally from Upper Michigan, Dr. Houle earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Loyola University Chicago. She then attended the University of Illinois, where earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, and is currently completing a joint master’s degree in public health. Dr. Houle is Fear Free certified, and a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Houle is excited to be back in Chicago and lives near the lake with her grey tabby cat named Jade. In her free time, she loves reading, hiking, yoga, and trying new restaurants around the city.
